David Cameron meets Mr. Polythene!

David Cameron meets Mr. Polythene! David Cameron meets James Woollard, Oxfordshire’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

David Cameron MP for Witney and Leader of the Opposition met with James Woollard, Managing Director of the country’s largest polythene broker, Polythene UK on Friday 11th September. The meeting marked the occasion of James winning the The Shaw Gibbs Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Oxfordshire Business Awards.

The award acknowledges James’s hard work and enterprise over the past two years since he set up Polythene UK in Witney, Oxfordshire. The company, which employs 12 people, has doubled its turnover in just twenty four months of trading and is set to increase sales due to demand for its unique product, Poly-Lite. This is a 3 and 5 layer laminated film which offers outstanding strength at lower gauges. The product range includes shrink pallet covers, collation shrink film, polythene bags, covers and liners.

Commenting on James’s success David Cameron said: ‘To achieve growth like this in a recession is truly impressive. Polythene UK are to be congratulated on this achievement which they obviously richly deserve.’

James Woollard said: ‘Winning the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award has given us a huge boost. My team work very hard and anything like this is something of which we can all be proud. Our continuous aim is to save our customers money and this is ultimately what drives us forward. We also offer a high level of customer service and this has contributed greatly to our success.’

Polythene UK sponsors the home ground of Witney United Football Club and indeed it is now called The Polythene UK Stadium. (www.witneyunited.co.uk)

James adds: ‘We will always give back to our local community. It is important to us that we encourage the younger generation too so we also sponsor boys and girls football teams as well as Witney United. It is central to our corporate philosophy that we share our success.’
