Bin collections resume after snow

Bin collections in West Oxfordshire have resumed today (Monday 5 March).

Despite facing challenging conditions last week, West Oxfordshire District Council’s contractor, Ubico Ltd, managed to complete all but one day of the scheduled collections.

Residents whose bins were not collected on Friday were advised to put them out for collection today.

The bin crews will be working hard to tackle the backlog this week, as well as their scheduled pick-ups. However this may have a knock on effect across the District.

If your bins are not collected on your scheduled day as planned this week, please leave them out. Crews will return as soon as possible to empty them, usually the following day.

Cllr James Mills, Leader of the District Council, is full of praise for the crews. He said “With the adverse weather we suffered last week, many residents did not think that their bins would be emptied and I would like to thank all the crews who worked so hard in such bitterly cold conditions.

“The current warmer turn in the weather means ‘business as normal’ for waste and recycling collections across the District and we hope to have caught up by the end of the week.”
