West Oxfordshire supporting Small Business Saturday 2017

West Oxfordshire supporting Small Business Saturday 2017 West Oxfordshire District Council is urging people to support Small Business Saturday on 2 December 2017 by shopping locally at independent retailers, as well as reminding everyone that car parking in the District is free.

The Small Business Saturday campaign focuses on 2 December which, in the run up to Christmas, is one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Cllr Jeff Haine, Cabinet Member for Economic Development said, “ With the weeks leading up to Christmas being an especially busy time for retail, Small Business Saturday is a good opportunity to remind everyone that parking across West Oxfordshire is free – both in our car parks and on the street.

“However, in West Oxfordshire free car parking is not just for Christmas, but all year round. We are one of the few local authorities in the country to retain free parking and we believe it has been key to the growth and success of our market towns and our wonderful range of small businesses and independent retailers.”

Retailers can tap into a wealth of resources on the Small Business Saturday website to help them take part in the day and promote their businesses. Campaign organisers are holding a range of free talks and workshops on a number of topics, from turning an idea into a business, through to marketing or growing a small business.

Last year’s Small Business Saturday reached more than 130 million people on Twitter and people spent a total of £717 million with small businesses on the day.
