Residents can win £50 for recycling this December

West Oxfordshire District Council is thanking its residents for recycling this December by selecting 15 lucky recyclers to win £50.

Rewards are up for grabs in the run-up to the festive season to thank householders who are using their black recycling box. If they correctly put out their recyclables in their box, and are randomly selected by the Council’s computer system, they’ll be in with a chance of scooping the cash.

Cllr David Harvey, Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: “If all the extra tonnes of waste this Christmas go to landfill, useful resources and energy will be lost forever. That is why we are sending out this special message to all residents to think before they reach for the waste bin this year, and offering this £50 incentive to really make people think about what they can recycle.”

Recycling is good for the environment and residents can recycle all their glass bottles and jars, plastics, cans, paper, card and textiles every week on the same day as their refuse bin collection.
It is very important to recycle as much as possible to reduce our harm to the environment and to save money in disposing of waste.
For more information about recycling, including collection dates or obtaining a free recycling box, visit www.westoxon.gov.uk/recycle or call 01993 861020.
