New location for Witney Visitor Information Centre

Witney Visitor Information has been relocated to the Council's Town Centre Shop on Welch Way and a new look combined service opened its doors on Monday 25th June.

The new location gives residents the convenience of having a greater variety of council services under one roof. The decision to provide a more comprehensive customer service also coincided with the end of the Visitor Information Centre’s lease at 26A High Street, Witney.

Cllr Hilary Biles, Cabinet Member with responsibility for tourism said, "The Visitor Information Centre has had an excellent and very busy first week with even more visitors than usual and the comments we're having are very positive. I'm sure visitor numbers will increase considerably as the Centre is in a very popular site, especially in view of the future Marriott's Close development."

Cllr Biles also added: "Given that there was no option but to move premises the staff must be congratulated as they have worked extremely hard to meet tight time scales to make sure everything was in place ready to open on the 25th June."

A new attractive window displays a wide range of local gifts and souvenirs on sale. To celebrate their successful move the Visitor Information Centre is offering 10% discount off all purchases up until July 31st.
They are hoping this special offer will encourage local residents to visit them in their new location.

The Visitor Information Centre opening hours have been extended to co-inside with the Town Centre Shop and will be open Saturdays and Bank Holidays to provide visitor information as usual.

A full range of council services will continue to be delivered from the joint location on Welch Way.

The Town Centre Shop will continue to provide information, assistance and payment facilities on a range of services including housing, council tax, benefits, concessionary travel, waste and recycling. A contact centre answers telephone and internet enquiries across a broad range of council services will also remain at this location.

The Visitor Information Centre offers a variety of services including local information on attractions, events and accommodation bookings, tickets sales, a wide range of local gifts and souvenirs for sale and has an extensive collection of brochures and literature to peruse.

Nearly 100,000 people visit both the Town Centre Shop and Visitor Information Centre each year.
