Assault – Whiteoak Green Witney

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident on an unclassified road between Crawley and Whiteoak Green near Witney.

A 38-year-old woman was driving at around 7.30am on Monday (20/11) and a man jumped in front of her. She stopped and got out of the car. The man said his car had broken down. He then approached her and grabbed her hair and her arm and punched her in the face. The woman kicked him and she drove off.

The man is eastern European in appearance and was wearing dark clothes with a dark hooded top. He is in his late twenties and is about 5ft 10ins tall.

PC Andrea Manic, investigating the case, said: "We are concerned about this incident and are keen to track down this man.

"There was no trace of the car he said had broken down.

"The road was busy because there was a diversion route in place going through this usually quiet road.

"If you were travelling along this road on Monday morning and saw a man acting suspiciously then please contact me."

Contact PC Manic via 0845 8 505 505. If you do not wish to speak to polce or give your name you can call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
