Council clamps down and records successful year!

During the last financial year the West Oxfordshire District Council's Fraud Investigation Team has uncovered
285,156.63 in fraudulently claimed benefits and sanctioned 41 West Oxfordshire residents for
fraudulent activities.

"Benefit Fraud is a crime as it is theft from taxpayers", says Mandy Fathers, Fraud Investigations
Manager at West Oxfordshire District Council. "Because benefit fraudsters are exploiting the system for their own gain and greed, they are restricting the resources available for those who are in genuine need."

If you know of anyone who is committing benefit fraud, telephone our dedicated HOTLINE on (01993) 861234 or email the council on benefits@westoxon.gov.uk. All information is treated in confidence.
