Beautiful South finalists

West Oxfordshire tourism organisations have once again been selected as among the best in the region by Tourism South East.

The following have been shortlisted for Beautiful South Awards for Excellence 2013-2014 in recognition of their exceptional levels of customer service and dedication to raising standards in the tourism industry:

· Bill Spectre’s Ghost Trails – Best Tourism Experience category
· Blenheim Palace – Business Tourism category
· Feathered Nest Inn, Nether Westcote, near Burford – Flavour of the South East, Outstanding Customer Services and Pub of the Year categories
· Burford Visitor Information Centre – Sustainable Tourism

Cllr Richard Langridge, West Oxfordshire District Council’s Cabinet Member responsible for tourism said: “We are delighted that organisations in West Oxfordshire, including our own Visitor Information Centre in Burford, are finalists for prestigious awards and I would like to wish them the very best of luck. Tourism is very important to West Oxfordshire and the Council is very proud to support the industry.”

Peter Colling, Managing Director of Tourism South East commented: “The quality of entries this year proves that the South East has some of the very best tourism businesses in the country. Competition was stiffer than ever and all finalists are exemplary in their fields. Last year, three of the finalists from the Beautiful South Awards went on to receive gold at the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, and judging by the standard of entries we have received this year the South East should do well again.”

Burford Visitor Information Centre based in High Street has also achieved a silver rating by the national Green Tourism Business Scheme, which recognises eco-friendliness. Burford is one of two Visitor Information Centres run by West Oxfordshire District Council. The other is in Witney.
