Community Activities Grants deadline approaching

Groups and organisations in West Oxfordshire have the chance to bid for grants to help with projects to develop arts or heritage opportunities in the District.
West Oxfordshire District Council is offering Community Activities Grants between £100 and £500. To be eligible, projects must be taking place within the District and applicants have to demonstrate that their project will benefit local residents and visitors to West Oxfordshire.

The deadline for applications is Monday 23 May 2011. Application forms can be downloaded from the Council’s website www.westoxon.gov.uk/activitiesgrants. Alternatively, forms are also available by calling 01993 861080.

Cllr Richard Langridge, Cabinet Member for Local Economy and Communities, said: “West Oxfordshire District Council is committed to encouraging leisure and cultural opportunities in the District and the Community Activities Grants are a way of supporting local groups that run and organise projects that bring wide-ranging benefits to our communities.

“The Council took a decision earlier this year to continue its grants support in 2011/12 for local organisations that work to provide opportunities and support to people in West Oxfordshire. We do face difficult challenges in future years with grants provision as our own finances continue to come under pressure, but we are very pleased that we have been able to safeguard these grants during this financial year and would like to encourage groups to apply as soon as possible.”

Various criteria need to be met by grant applicants and more details can be viewed online at www.westoxon.gov.uk/activitiesgrants.
