Make sure you can vote on 5 May

West Oxfordshire District Council is urging residents to make sure they are registered to vote at the local elections and UK referendum on Thursday 5 May 2011.

This week poll cards are being mailed to all those registered to vote.

Electoral Registration Officer Keith Butler is advising some residents that they need to act now if they are to have their say. He said, “If you have not received your poll card by 6th April, it could mean you are not on the register and we know there are people living in the District who have not yet done this. Sometimes people do not realise that they need to re-register each year. Also anyone who has moved house in the past few months needs to check they are registered at their new address.”

Residents can request a registration form by emailing elections@westoxon.gov.uk; calling the elections office on 01993 861410, or by printing a registration form from www.westoxon.gov.uk/electoralregister.

The deadline for receiving ‘register to vote’ applications is Thursday 14 April.
