David Cameron is new Prime Minister

David Cameron is new Prime Minister Following the resignation of Gordon Brown, David Cameron and his wife Samantha visited the Queen at Buckingham Palace this evening. The Queen asked the Witney MP to form a new Government.

The shape of that new Government is as yet unknown as the details of discussions between the Conservative Party and Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats party have not been revealed in detail.

David Cameron left Buckingham Palace and was driven back to Downing Street where he addressed the gathered members of the media for the first time in his capacity as Prime Minister.
