Wesley Walk shopkeepers call for CCTV cameras

Shopkeepers with stores in Wesley Walk in Witney have launched a petition calling for security cameras to be installed.

Ongoing vandalism and break-ins have highlighted the fact that the shops in Wesley Walk are not protected by CCTV cameras. Rosa Flora Designs and Renaissance have both been affected by burglary and attempted burglary in recent months and one of the owners of a store in Wesley Walk believes that crime is on the increase because of the lack of deterrents such as CCTV.

A spokesman for West Oxfordshire District Council said that Witney's CCTV system was Government funded and there was no money available for new cameras.
