Construction Worker Injured

Emergency services are on the scene of the new Marriots shopping centre, Welch Way, Witney, after an industrial incident occurred this morning.

Police were called to the scene at 8.55am and a 28-year-old man has been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital via the air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

The section of Welch Way, between Woodford Way and High Street, is closed to both vehicles and pedestrians – patients needing to access the Nuffield Health Centre and Rowlands Pharmacy can still do so.

Det Sgt Craig Kirby, of Witney police station, said: “We unable to provide further details at this very early stage; we have launched an initial investigation and are interviewing witnesses.

“Officials from the Health and Safety Executive are on route and further inquiries will be carried out jointly between the HSE and Thames Valley Police.”
