Stop thieves bagging your purse - West Oxon

The West Oxfordshire Community Safety Partnership has teamed up with Giles Sports Shop in Carterton to give away 500 handbag keycoils in the run up to the festive period.

One end of the plastic keycoil attaches to your purse or wallet and the other end to your handbag or a belt loop on your trousers.

“During the last month there have only been two reported handbag thefts in West Oxfordshire but the keycoil is definitely worth having,” explains Bill Butcher, crime reduction adviser. “While you may have your eye on the festive bargains, a thief may have his eye on your money. If someone tries to grab your purse or wallet they will soon discover they won’t get very far as you will feel the chain pulling and they won’t want to attract attention so will let go. We are extremely grateful to Giles for supplying these free of charge.”

The keycoils will be handed out on the following dates:

Wednesday 5 December: Chipping Norton market place (10am-11.30am)
Wednesday 12 December: Witney Woolgate Centre (10am-11.30am)
Thursday 13 December: Carterton market place (10am-11.30am)
