Sailing Club to benefit from Grant
West Oxfordshire Sailing Club is to receive a £5,000 grant from West Oxfordshire District Council towards the cost of buying three sets of wayfarer sails and five topper dinghies. The Club will contribute the outstanding balance.
The Club's junior sailing school's activities have expanded resulting in more usage of equipment. Boats now need to be replaced and additional ones purchased to meet demand.
Cllr Tony Walker says “The grant is great news for this very successful sailing club which has grown significantly over the last few years. It is important that the maintenance and improvement for facilities in the District continues.”
Equipment is maintained by Club members and coaching and tuition is also provided by members.
Others to receive a grant were Bampton Parish Council, to clean and resurface tennis courts, Burford Town Council, to purchase and install two bucket and two flat swings. The Bartons Victory War Memorial Fund has received a grant towards the purchase and installing a toddler adventure unit and Finstock Village
Hall to replace a section of the roof.
