Local Oxfordshire Chain of Stores Continue to Win Awards

Brown Bear Mother and Baby Store on Mill Walk in Witney, Oxfordshire, has received the seal of approval from the preschool industry, by winning the Best Independent Apparel Retailer category in this year's Progressive Preschool Awards.

The winners of the 2015 Progressive Preschool Awards were announced yesterday at a high-profile event at The Dorchester Hotel in London's Mayfair. Hosted by celebrity comedian Sean Collins, the awards were attended by over 400 suppliers and retailers who came together to celebrate the entire preschool industry.

The Progressive Preschool Awards 2015 celebrate the very best in product and retailing right across the preschool world. Now in its second year, the respected awards continue to reflect the passion, dynamism and creativity found throughout the preschool industry. All retail entries were nominated by suppliers, distributors, wholesalers and agents before being validated by a panel of industry experts. The deserving winners are recognised for their innovative approach and retail achievements over the last year.

This award follows Brown Bear’s success in being awarded Best Children's Shop in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire in the Muddy Stiletto's Awards earlier this year. A competition involving 1000s of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire businesses, lasting 6 weeks and involving over 20,000 voters. Brown Bear was voted for by 1000s of members of the public to win the Best Children's Shop category.

Brown Bear in Witney is the sister shop to Dapper Street Men's Clothing, a chain of 4 men’s clothing stores located around Oxfordshire in Abingdon, Newbury, Wantage and Witney. Dapper Street Men's Clothing also won their category of Best Men's Boutique in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

The first Brown Bear and Dapper Street stores opened their doors in August, 2014. Retail Stores Director, Stephen Graham reported “After opening our stores just over one year ago, it is great to have both of our stores recognised in such prestigious awards”. Brown Bear’s Head of Mother & Baby Retailing Rebecca Hogarty commented “It has been great fun to bring our love of ethically minded brands and organic clothing to Witney. We’ve enjoyed meeting 1000s of like minded Mums and Dads and have helped make gorgeous babies a little happier”.
