Grants to support sports clubs

Training grants are available from West Oxfordshire District Council for sports clubs who wish to develop individuals involved with coaching, officiating and play work.

A maximum of £200 is available for each grant which can cover up to 90% of the total course cost.

Grants will help to fund training and development for individuals such as sports coaching, first aid and safeguarding children.

Cllr Richard Langridge, Cabinet Member for Communities said, “West Oxfordshire sports clubs provide a range of opportunities and recreational facilities and we are pleased to provide development grants to help them continue with the good work they are doing in the community.”

Recently Witney Leys Badminton Club was awarded a grant for one of their 16-year old players to take the UK Coaching Certificate Level One course. The Club hopes that this will encourage other younger members to take up coaching too.

More information is available on the Council’s website: www.westoxon.gov.uk/grants or by calling 01993 861080.

The next deadline for grant applications is 5 November 2012. Deadlines set for next year are the 2 January and 4 March 2013.
